At the request of the Foundation, the Douglas County Parks Board hired Hoisington Koegler Group (HKGi) to prepare a comprehensive plan for the park. On December 12, 2006, a Master Concept Plan was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners.   

 

Goals of the plan include:

• Additional recreational activities.

• Adding and enhancing visitor amenity facilities.

• Constructing a new visitor center and group picnic shelter.

• Enhancing the discovery site and the story that surrounds the Rune Stone.

• Protect the Olaf Ohman farmsite.
